Preventive Maintenance (PM) is only as strong as the planning that supports it. When a PM plan is created in Shepherd, every assigned task becomes the backbone of the maintenance program. The platform automatically translates these tasks into service forecasts, which then generate service orders. At the same time, required parts are identified upfront, ensuring they’re reflected in warehouse stock, procurement schedules, and financial reporting.

This automation goes a step further with PM Task Parts. For each service, the parts needed are pre-configured and automatically added to the Service Order. Service Orders can even be generated via forecast, removing the need for manual data entry and saving time for both planners and technicians.

On the ground, technicians see real benefits too. When PM Task Parts are tied to a service, they appear in the Shepherd Mobile App, ensuring the technician knows exactly what’s needed and can confirm the parts from their own cache. No guesswork. No delays. Just the right parts, at the right time.

Take something as simple as an oil change: without oil, the service cannot be completed. By embedding required parts into the order process from the start, Shepherd ensures no service is compromised by missing items or last-minute scrambling.

For service providers, the advantages are clear. It means less admin, fewer errors, and greater visibility into costs and stock levels. It means better planning, reduced risk of shortages or overstocking, and ultimately, more efficient and reliable maintenance operations.
