By default, Shepherd’s solution is a secure one: all the expected security precautions exist and are available. That’s not to say they are compulsory. Each company is different, and each is entirely capable of assessing and mitigating security concerns.
For this reason, if a company prefers to have speedy access to the system using an existing secure access option they know and trust, they can opt for the Single Sign On function, where, rather than a separate login and password for the mobile app, the technician can use their Microsoft access credentials.
Can additional security be used with this option? Yes, it can. Microsoft itself offers two-step authentication to access its accounts, and that option exists for accessing the mobile app using a Microsoft login, too.
Security is a very important aspect of running operations with any kind of internet component, but some Shepherd users may not feel the need to reinvent the wheel by adding yet another access route requiring yet more passwords and user names.
The Single Sign On option with Microsoft delivers a balance of both worlds, offering speed of access, with minimal fuss, all the while retaining solid security.
