Managing technicians and service commitments rarely follows a one-size-fits-all model. That’s why Shepherd’s enhanced Planner Board now offers Service Managers the flexibility to oversee work in the way that best fits the situation.
The Timeline Day and Timeline Week views provide a clear picture of how long events last, helping managers avoid overlaps and schedule realistically. These formats make it easier to see where unallocated gaps exist, while the week view also accounts for travel time and longer projects. For those who prefer a top-to-bottom layout, the Day and Week views deliver the same information, but vertically.
The Work Week view is a variation of the above and condenses a week’s worth of activity into compact tiles, showing duration as a value within each tile rather than as a graphic effect by stretching it across the calendar. This allows more events to fit on-screen which is ideal for operations where timing matters less than volume.
When the unexpected happens, such as equipment failures or staff absences, the All-Technician 3-Day view helps managers focus on the next 72 hours, showing exactly where technicians are and what capacity exists. On the other hand, the All-Technician Month view provides the longer lens needed for planning vacations or scheduled downtime.
Customisation adds even greater precision. The Custom 1-Day view highlights a single technician, crew, or customer without distraction, while the Custom 31-Day view extends that focus across a month, allowing deeper detail and easy scrolling for complex schedules.
Together, these flexible views empower service teams to balance immediate demands with long-term planning making scheduling clearer, faster, and far more effective. Look through the presentation to see its layout for yourself.
